On June 26, 2009 Fannie Mae announced that changes to the Uniform Residential Loan Application are completed. The revised form is effective for mortgage loan applications taken on or after January 1, 2010.
The lender's section has been revised to collect the Loan Originator ID and the Loan Origination Company ID. These unique identifiers are required by the Secure and Fair Enforcement Mortgage Licensing Act (S.A.F.E. Act). The Nationwide Mortgage Licensing system and Registry (NMLS) was developed to implement the S.A.F.E. Act.
The federal banking agencies, FFIEC, and Farm Credit Administration must develop and maintain a system for registering employees of federally insured depository institutions and their subsidiaries. Once the process for issueance of unique identifiers has been finalied for these entities, Fannie Mae will provide information about delivering this data.
All residential mortgage loan originators must be either state-licensed or federally registered.
